Wagtails on my patch!!

Just taken Laddie for his walk and seen 2 Grey Wagtails teatering around the stream by the bridge which is first for my local patch. Although there is a small stream that runs through my patch it rarely shows any signs of life, just the odd coke can... so it was very nice to see them.

More Fledglings

The front feeder is now covered with young House Sparrows learning how to land on the perches and the Goldfinches are also back. Who needs Springwatch, just look out of the window!! (sorry Bill & Kate, only joking).

Fledgling Goldfinch

Oh the joys of garden birdwatching. We've had a couple of Goldfinches coming to our front seed feeder (full of sunflower hearts) for a while. But today they brought 2 youngsters with them. The fledglings were stunning in their own right having the yellwo wing pairs of the adults but lacking the dusky feathering and facial features of an adult. Which is strange really, the juvenille being a typical LBJ but with a nice flash of yellow which kind of spoils the camouflage.

The adults filled themselves up with seeds while the fledglings sat in the tree quivering their feathers in a "feed me" kind of way then the adults landed next to them and regurgatated the seeds into the hungry mouths.

Without a doubt one of the best garden birding pleasures I've had, a delight (and I'm supposed to be working). If England win tonight this will have been a good day!! :)
