NewLocal Patch - Halkyn Mountain

We've moved to North Wales and my local patch is a whole mountain! There are gardens, sheep, bracken, a few small tadpole filled ponds, we're close to the Dee Estuary and 800 foot above sea level. It's a glorious new patch and I'm very very lucky :)

Old Local Patch - Huddersfield

I'm very lucky in that my local patch is right behind my house. I live on the very edge of a town and behind me is a mixture of grassed areas, a stream, trees and farmland (mainly used for grazing horses and cows). Beyond the farmland is a long strip of woodland. There are also many gardens that back onto it all. Sounds good eh!
Well yes and no. It does offer up a reasonable amount of woodland/farmland/garden birds and is a pleasure to stroll round with the dog everyday, but I can only go on the paths (the dark grey bits on the maps), very little cross-country here, and with it being on the edge of a town it gets it's share of litter. But I'm not complaining, I enjoy it very much, right down to the squadron of Magpies that I share my patch with.
